Calvin was born in Berkeley, California in 1957. Both he and Marguerite were introduced to skiing at an early age and taught well by their father. After graduating from Robert Louis Stevenson in Pebble Beach he attended the University of Denver. There, his area of academic concentration was hotel and restaurant management. After college he moved to Vail, Colorado and worked at the Vail Athletic Club Restaurant, of course continuing his enjoyment of skiing. There he met his wife to be, Taryne. They married in 1983 and moved to Carmel to begin their life together. They now live in San Jose, California and have two children, Alexander and Jordan.
